Hello from our home in Stockholm, Sweden! We wish you a happy holiday
season and best wishes for the upcoming year. From Baby Rowan, Elsa,
and David
2023 was a big year for us as we embarked on the adventure of
parenthood. While Elsa was pregnant, we learned everything we could
about how our little person was developing. We did so much to prepare
for bringing a baby into our lives.
Our baby boy decided he was ready to make an entrance on May 13th, a
Saturday morning. We all got a good night's sleep and then were riding
high on excitement. We had a great support team to help us feel
prepared for this moment.
Here he is, baby Rowan! Born in the year of the Rabbit, he is meant to
be calm, peaceful, and thoughtful. We never expected that one day we
would have a baby born in Stockholm, Sweden.
Swedish summer is bright and warm, a lovely time to be home
discovering how to manage a newborn. We're really grateful for the
sweet and generous things that people have done for us especially in
those hectic early days.
He was so tiny! We had fun styling him for outings. He got to take
long walks by the water and all through the town. We love those tiny
socks!
We took advantage of the summertime sun, and wore matching bucket hats
while out and about (probably getting ice cream.)
There's an Enzo Mari design for a black-and-white mobile which we made
for Rowan's crib. He gets mesmerized by the contrast, shapes, and
movement.
At the kitchen table he can observe all the exciting things getting
poured and mixed and cooked. He loves to get involved and doesn't want
to miss a thing.
He's been getting a taste for mushy foods and likes to put bits of
food all over everything, but here's a picture of him smiling before
the chaos.
And now it's wintertime in Stockholm. The stroller wheels sometimes
get locked up by icy snow, so a sled is the preferred way of getting
around.
